One of Magnus's employees at the Sanctuary, Henry (RYAN ROBBINS) is an uber-geek of the cool variety, a weapons designer and computer expert. His skill and intelligence with all things technical keep the Sanctuary at maximum security... most of the time.
Not one to be shy, Henry doesn't hesitate to speak his mind and always has a witty remark at the ready for anyone who will listen. He is smart-mouthed, sarcastic, and undeniably brilliant. But like most residents of the Sanctuary, there is more to Henry than meets the eye.

The mysterious John Druitt (CHRISTOPHER HEYERDAHL) enters the world of Sanctuary quite literally in a flash. His sinister presence is palpable and his strength and power thus far unmatched. Able to appear and disappear at will, he is unlike any 'abnormal' we've yet encountered.
Sharing a past with Dr. Helen Magnus, his unexpected return to her life shakes her steady demeanor, as she knows all too well of his extraordinary capabilities and strength. But there is also a depth to Druitt that is hidden among the secrets of his history and his personal connection to Magnus.
Emilie Ullerup (Ashley Magnus)
Ashley (EMILIE ULLERUP) is yin to Will's yang in the Sanctuary's dual agenda of "preserve and protect." Arrestingly beautiful, she is tough as nails, physically adept and a skilled fighter making her perfectly suited to her calling as monster-hunter supreme. Ashley has moments of vulnerability but it's a side she deftly covers with a veneer of bravado and fearlessness.
Growing up in the world of the Sanctuary with her mother, Dr. Helen Magnus, she has come to accept the impossible as a matter of course. And while there are the usual generational sparks between mother and daughter, Ashley is acutely respectful of her mother's work and knowledge.
Robin Dunne (Dr Will Zimmerman)
Dr. Will Zimmerman (ROBIN DUNNE) is a brilliant forensic psychiatrist who gained stature while working with the Federal authorities. A master of behavioral science, he can translate the most veiled human signals into case-breaking deductions. Problem is, no one believes him. His fascination with alternative and otherworldly explanations for horrific crimes has cost him the respect of his peers - and his job.
He is recognized as a good man with an inarguable talent for psychiatry and analysis. However, his inability to submit to the status quo of crime investigation has resulted in demotions and a mundane affiliation with Homicide in Old City.
Swift with a clever quip, usually in an effort to redirect an awkward situation, Will is instantly likable. Upon joining Magnus in her work at the Sanctuary, Will discovers a new and strange world that is both logically unbelievable yet intuitively plausible to him. While ahead of his time, and at least partially open to the world of 'abnormals' he reacts to the unusual and fantastical in a way we can all understand.
The team quickly learns that Will is less than comfortable with a gun, but Magnus is certain his instinct and genuine thirst to know the truth will prove invaluable in her fascinating work.
Amanda Tapping (Dr Helen Magnus)
The beautiful and enigmatic Dr. Helen Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) has devoted her life to the practical research of cutting edge medicine and science. The daughter of the most brilliant and controversial medical researcher of his day, she was exposed early on to her father's secret laboratory. He further taught her the wonders of his world, knowing these revelations would change her forever.
Well over a century later, Magnus runs the Sanctuary where she tracks, protects and learns from the extraordinary and paranormal creatures that inhabit our world.
Although dismissed as monstrous figments of our imaginations and the stuff of our childhood nightmares, Magnus recognizes that the world is full of nature's mistakes and triumphs. And she has the spectacular proof that they are indeed real. For some 'abnormals', Magnus becomes their protector. And for a dangerous few, she is their captor.
Magnus is bold and straightforward, brave and no-nonsense, yet she remains proudly true to her formal Victorian English sensibilities. She adores her daughter Ashley, respecting her independence and self-reliance - but that doesn't preclude some occasional mother-daughter friction.

Episode 11: Instinct
Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) and the Sanctuary team attempt to capture a rare and deadly creature - all under the watchful eye of a local news crew.
Episode 10: Warriors
Investigating the disappearance of an old college friend, Will (ROBIN DUNNE) finds himself caught in an underground fight club where the combatants are genetically engineered abnormals who fight to the death like modern day gladiators. And Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) is eerily convinced that one of the men involved in the illegal operation is none other than her long-deceased father.
Episode 9: Requiem
Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) and Will (ROBIN DUNNE) investigate a distressing call for help deep below the Bermuda Triangle resulting in a deadly battle to save Magnus's life.
Episode 8: Edward
A young artist with an uncanny ability to draw remarkably detailed pictures from memory may be the key to a solving a case surrounding the suspicious death of his abusive father. But it will take Will's (ROBIN DUNNE) forensic profiling to determine if the boy's drawings are inspired by reality or simply a terrifyingly vivid imagination.
Episode 7: The Five
While leading a covert meeting in Rome, Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) encounters Nikola Tesla (JONATHAN YOUNG), an old friend from her past who confides that the Cabal has come to exact revenge on her for the events in "Fata Morgana". But Magnus realizes that Tesla's loyalties may not be as steadfast as in their college days when the two became part of an exclusive order called The Five - a group in which each is connected by a secret they have carried for decades.
Episode 6: Nubbins
When a mating pair of cute, furry and seemingly harmless abnormals is brought in for scientific study, the Sanctuary team begins to exhibit some hidden animal attractions for one another.
Episode 5: Kush
Returning with an abnormal captured in the Himalayas, Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) and Will (ROBIN DUNNE) are stranded from civilization and aid after their plane goes down in a desolate mountain range. While anxiously waiting for a rescue team, the surviving passengers begin to fall victim to vicious and deadly attacks throughout the night. It becomes chillingly apparent that surviving the cold is the least of their worries and no one, not even Magnus and Will, is above suspicion.
Episode 4: Folding Man
An investigation into a string of bizarre robberies leads Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) and Will (ROBIN DUNNE) to a crime ring of thieves who seem to be able to slip between the cracks of the law...literally.
Episode 3: Fata Morgana
Dr. Helen Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING), her daughter Ashley (EMILIE ULLERUP), and new to the Sanctuary, Dr. Will Zimmerman (ROBIN DUNNE) release three women from a mysterious crypt in Scotland, bringing them back to the Sanctuary for refuge. Unbeknownst to the team, and the women themselves, they have extraordinary powers. And their disappearance does not go undetected by a powerful cabal, resolute on reclaiming what it determines is theirs.

I've been trying to find out who the cast member is that plays the missing link...you know, the one who always says ug ug before or after each line.

Missed the start of Series 2 on ITV4. Is Sci Fi UK showing it?
O.M.G. , what have they done to this show!. It used to be a great show, full of potential and ideas, but now(after watching the first 3 episodes of season 2) it has become almost a parody of itself, with obvious characters with astoundingly see-through back plots and really bad story ideas, especially if, as we are asked to believe, the network is global, why do they only employ incompitants and have no idea what's going on around them or how to do the job safely.

The accent shouldn't be more common, Magnus is an educated victorian lady, she would have a posh accent it goes without saying, women didn't get educated then especially if they where poor/common she would have to be rich and well bred therefore posh.

Actually, I find the 'English' accent *british could denote scottish, welsh or northern irish* a little clipped. It needs to be a little more...common.

this programme is fantasic i watched the episodes on this web site 27/05/09 of course it beats all others hands down, hope they keep this going it has great stories and the cast are great actors it keeps me fixed to the screen the effects are just brill,so you guys keep the show coming.

Amandas british accent is brilliant so different to Sam Carter.The whole cast,even the creatures are so believable.Who are we to say whats out there? I missed this the first time around but I wont miss any more.Great work long may it play.

I watched this show first time round on itv4 and wasn't overly taken with it to be honest. Then it came onto sci-fi so I gave it anther chance and it seems that it is one of those shows that needs more than one viewing, i'm now hooked.

Is there a series 2. I watched Sanctuary on ITV4 the first time and am now watching again in SCI FI. The whole family are watching now. It's amazing.
